Countdown to Big Day Out as Team Amber take on the challenge of an ultra-marathon
In May, Amber’s dad, Glen, will be taking on a mammoth challenge ahead of the Big Day Out – a West County rugby derby clash between Bristol Bears and Bath Rugby – held in Cardiff. Following his herculean effort at the Welsh Ironman in the summer of 2024, Glen, alongside three friends, will run the 46-mile stretch from Ashton Gate to the Principality Stadium, where the match will be played on Saturday 10 May. Glen is the academy transition coach at the Bristol Bears and played for the men’s first team from 2012 to 2017. The team of fundraisers has set a target of £5,500, with all proceeds going to The Amber Townson Foundation to help raise awareness of SUDC and drive research efforts. Speaking ahead of the challenge, Glen said: “This isn't just a run; it's a journey of hope. It's a way to raise awareness of SUDC, a condition that desperately needs more research and understanding. “Every step I take will be for Amber. Every mile will be a testament to her memory. And every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a real difference.
